An Ethical World

Wondering what it means to embrace a conscious lifestyle? Simply put, it means aiding in making the world a better place. This includes supporting charities that aim to make both environmental and social strides. This month we’ve featured four charities so far: Hope Vibes to help the homeless; The Humane Society to help the animals; 1% for the Planet to help the earth; and charity: water to help those without access to clean water.

And now this week, we’re focusing on helping the people who make our clothes with this week’s organization, Fashion Revolution. This charity is great at advocating for proper working conditions and a living wage for people in the global fashion industry.

The Founding

Do you know what the world’s largest fashion activism campaign is? That's right, it's Fashion Revolution. This organization started with Carry Somers, owner of the clothing brand Pachacuti -- the world’s first Fair Trade Certified company with a focus on radical supply chain transparency. After the tragic Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, Somers partnered with Orsola de Castro to create Fashion Revolution: a global campaign focused on human rights with participation in over 100 countries.

Fashion Revolution’s mission is to promote a fashion industry that values people over growth and profit. It also aims to help create an environmentally-conscious fashion industry. Founded in 2013, Fashion Revolution is a UK-based nonprofit. It supports making the fashion industry safe, transparent and clean worldwide.

Plenty of Change

With all of the progress Fashion Revolution has made since its founding in 2013, there is still plenty to fight for. If you’re looking to make a difference in the clothing industry, Fashion Revolution is a perfect place to start. Fast fashion should be a thing of the past. It’s time to take matters into our own hands. It’s time for a fashion revolution.
